A friend of mine has this problem, when pressing the power button all load and shows the windows logo after that it just stays black because it wont load windows,after reseting(once) the PC and it loads normally. checked for viruses nothing,tried to see if there drivers are on still nothing,I even edited boot.ini (according to microsoft recommendation)

I currently have this problem on my old desktop. The only thing I know for certain is wrong with it is a bad hard drive. I just can’t afford a new hdd yet so I deal with resetting the computer until it finally loads Windows. But yeah, you might also have a bad hard drive. Try getting a new one, installing it in the computer, then install a fresh copy of XP onto it, and just use your old bad one as a secondary drive for storage.

Sound slike hardware problems, manybe hard drive or memory issue.

usually hard drive manufacturers have software specific to the drives
Reinstalling the operating system may not be a bad thing too.
Boot.INI looks fine.
Open the command prompt and run chkdsk /r
1) Click Start
2) Click Run
3) type cmd
4) type chkdsk /r
This will check your hard drive and attempt to repair it if there are any issues.
If that doesn’t work, go to the command prompt (above) and type:
SFC /scannow
This will check your windows files and repair/replace any corrupted/missing files.
I have run into a similar situation only with the BIOS. I changed the keyboard and mouse out and that resolved the problem. That may not be your problem. Try booting to safe mode and running a disk check. There may be a disk error that needs corrected. You could also try to do a repair of the install using your XP CD. Reboot the system with the CD in the drive and boot from that. Repair should be one of the options.

Have you checked for a BIOS update? I have run into problems with out of date BIOSes and newer versions of Windows.
From what I have read this would be a bad memory module on your Dimm sticks.
Do the repairing of your system Following are the steps to repair window xp
Step 1Insert the Windows XP Installation CD into the disk drive of your computer.
Step 2Restart your computer and then press any key on the keyboard to boot up to the Windows XP installation CD.
Step 3Press the Enter key after the Windows XP disk locates all of the system files.
Step 4Press the F8 key when you see the the Windows license agreement screen. By pressing F8, you are agreeing to the Windows XP license agreement.
Step 5Select the hard drive partition that you want to repair using the up and down arrow keys.
Step 6Press the R key to begin repairing the Windows XP files. The repairing process could take up to 1 hour to complete. When it finishes, the system will restart, and you can eject the installation CD.
if still you are facing a problem then make a backup of your data and format your windows and reinstall the window xp again
